We all know the drill, the minute we are freed from the slavery that is the work day we run home and begin “activities” that prevent us from having to go back in for the short amount of liberty we receive. We all know that it’s inevitable we will be called in to perform maintenance or some other menial task but the frequency depends on the circumstances (chain of command).
Ignoring the call has always and will always be a tool in any good nuke’s toolbox. “Sorry, Chief I was out for a run then fell asleep.” This comic is a painful yet funny reminder of just how fragile trust is on a ship. We are forced to be with each other for months on end and just when we think work can’t take over any more of our lives a scenario like this pops up. Our lives are uprooted by the needs of the plant and although people will try about anything to avoid coming to the boat on an off day, we always do.
I want to end this write up by thanking any of you who have been called in to fix something that the person on duty should have been able to handle. For all of you called in to clean up from the day before or for those of you who were called in due to a mistake made when you were asleep.
I salute all of you! Thank you to Adam for this comic and the painful memories you have jolted.
Cheers, Nick
